The Los Angeles Lakers have laid off about 20 employees including a longtime assistant general manager and five members of their scouting staff, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday. Assistant general manager Ronnie Lester and scout Gene Tormohlen, who put in 43 years with the National Basketball Association club , are part of the group of employees who were told they were being laid off or that their contracts would not be renewed.
