Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest isn’t one to back down from a fight and his hackles went up when he sensed that the Boston Celtics were using the blown-out knee of Kendrick Perkins in Game 7 of the NBA Finals this year as an excuse as to why it lost the championship to the Lakers. His anger manifested in the form of three successive tweets , according to WEEI, that read: "Boston lost to lakers because of [the] Kendrick Perkins injury. What about in [2008] when (Andrew) Bynum was injured.

Shannon Brown "leaning" toward Lakers re-signing

Free agent shooting guard Shannon Brown (notes) has won two championships in the last two years with the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks would love to add that kind of street cred to its roster, but Brown’s agent tells the New York Post that his client is "leaning" toward returning to the City of Angels to try for a third straight title. The final decision between New York and L.A. is expected today by the man who averaged 8.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in an average 20.7 minutes per game.

Lakers dealing Vujacic?

Guard Sasha Vujacic (notes) has helped the Los Angeles Lakers win two consecutive NBA Championships but now the team is t rying to ship him out , according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Sources told the paper that the Lakers are trying to package the 26-year-old who averaged 2.8 points, 1.2 rebounds, and .6 assists in the 8.6 minutes per game he played last season with a future first-round pick in order to unload his $5 million salary for the year from the books.

Chris Paul leaving New Orleans?

Chris Paul (notes) expressed public happiness recently when the New Orleans Hornets hired a new coach in Monty Williams and now the team has a new general manager, Dell Demps, but CBSsports is reporting that Paul is trying to get himself out of the Big Easy before the season begins.

Raja Bell joining Jazz

Looks like Kobe Bryant (notes) and Raja Bell (notes) will get to keep battling with each other and not have to become best buddies. Bryant’s meeting with Bell last night to try and sway him to join the Los Angeles Lakers never had to happen. ESPN is reporting that Bell has signed a three-year, $10 million contract with the Utah Jazz , which had just signed Al Jefferson (notes) the day before that

Kobe lending hand to land Raja Bell

Kobe Bryant (notes) and Raja Bell (notes) have had their disagreements in the past but the five-time NBA champ Bryant is putting all that aside to meet with Bell today and try to convince him to come play for the Lakers for the $1.77 million left in its midlevel exception, according to the Los Angeles Times. As Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported yesterday, the Lakers and San Antonio Spurs are the frontrunners to land the 33-year-old Bell, who only played six games last year for the Charlotte Bobcats and Golden State Warriors . The Spurs have a little more money that it can give Bell, and according to Wojnarowski, are still regretting cutting him at the end of training camp in 2001.

Byron Scott has told Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears that he would like to take the head-coaching job that’s available with the Cleveland Cavaliers no matter if Phil Jackson retires and leaves an opening with his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers , or LeBron James (notes) decides to go play elsewhere.

Celtics’ Rasheed Wallace retiring?

Rasheed Wallace (notes) was pressed into the starting five for the Boston Celtics last night when Kendrick Perkins (notes) couldn’t do it and delivered 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots in a game the Celtics led nearly the whole way before finally succumbing to the Los Angeles Lakers , 83-79, to lose the championship. Wallace has two years and $13 million left on his contract, but the Boston Herald reports that Celtics head coach Doc Rivers suggested after the game that the 35-year-old would retire this summer .
