Lakers’ Gasol Observes Spine Surgery at CHLA

After clinching the world title in game seven, Los Angeles Lakers Pau Gasol is setting his sights on another victory: raising awareness and support for pediatric research and medicine at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Yesterday, Gasol donned scrubs and observed a highly complex spinal procedure at CHLA where orthopaedic surgeon David Skaggs, MD, corrected a 13-year-old patients scoliosis.

Gasol’s toughness grows in 3rd finals with Lakers

Pau Gasol used to spend this week in Paris each year, sitting in the shade at Roland Garros and watching Rafael Nadal torment his opponents on the clay courts. Gasol’s gracious summers ended when the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Gasol just over two years ago from the woebegone Memphis Grizzlies, putting him in the thick of the NBA finals for the past three seasons.
