Lakers deliver on Christmas Day, beating Mavs 138-115

Celtics vs Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers had a comfortable 138-115 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day, with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis putting in good shifts on the court.

AD netted 28 points and clocked in five assists and 8 rebounds, while LeBron delivered 22 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. It was a great game for both players, considering the possibility of injuries holding the two Lakers stars back from full on-court performance. But as noted earlier in the injury report before the Mavericks game, both were ready to play and came out swinging.

Throughout the game, the Mavs, led by all-star Luka Doncic who scored 27 points on the night, never really managed to take control. The game started competitive, with the Mavericks trailing by just 3 points at the end of the first quarter. Dallas, however, never managed to come out on top in any of the following quarters, either, with the Lakers covering the spread and the game going way over the total expected by the odds makers.

The victory over the Mavericks on Friday marked the 10th time LeBron James has come out on top during his seventeen Christmas Day appearances. With this he tied the record held by good friend and former Heat teammate Dwyane Wade.

This win now has the Lakers holding a 1-1 record and clearly rebounding from the loss to the Clippers in the season opener. The next game for the LA Lakers will be held at the Staples Center on Sunday, facing the Minnesota Timberwolves.
