Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers: line, spread, game preview

On Sunday the LA Lakers will welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves and it’s time once again to check out the latest betting line and point spread on the 3rd game of the season. But before we dive into the betting odds, let’s preview what’s in store for tonight’s Lakers NBA game.

After a rocky start to the season, losing to the Clippers in the opener, the Lakers managed to firmly re-establish themselves as a contender, delivering a sound beating to the Mavericks on Christmas Day. After the first couple of games, the Lakers are sitting on 1-1 record, but on Sundya night will welcome the 2-0 Timberwolves. Minnesota has won both of its games so far, edging the Mavs in overtime in the season opener, then beating the Jazz 116-111 yesterday.

But today they will travel to meet a much tougher opponent in the face of the LA Lakers, and the sportsbooks have taken into account the condition of both teams. And considering the performance exhibited by both LeBron James and Anthony Davis during Friday’s game, the betting odds won’t be much of a surprise to anyone.

Right now the Vegas sportsbooks are teetering the spread on the Timberwolves – Lakers game anywhere between -11 and -10 points chalk the LA Lakers, with most of the offshore betting sites splitting the difference and posting the point spread at -10.5 points in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers. Early betting lines have the Lakers a huge favorite to win the NBA game outright with odds of -660, while the Minnesota Timberwolves are big underdog, holding on +500 to deliver an upset tonight at the Staples Center.

The over-under on the game is all over the place at Vegas, but it averages at about 224 points. A surprisingly low total, when we take into account the massive spread on the game. but since those are rather early odds, we expect the over/under to move higher as we get closer to start time.

And speaking of start time, the Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers game is scheduled to begin at 8pm and will be shown love on NBA TV and Fox Sports (where no blackouts apply).
