Lakers move past Memphis in a close game

Somewhat surprisingly, the Los Angeles Lakers experienced serious problems during their visit to Memphis tonight and for a moment were about to miss the game, but still prevailed with 94-92.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis scored 26 points each for the winners. James added 11 rebounds and 7 assists to his personal statistics, and Dennis Schroder finished with 12 points. Dylan Brooks, Gorgui Dieng and Jonas Valanciunas scored 13 points each for the Grizzlies, the latter also conquering 11 rebounds. Brandon Clark was left with 12, Kyle Anderson scored 10.

The match went through many twists and turns, but in the final minutes the team from Los Angeles reached a dramatic triumph and gave a second consecutive loss to the Grizzlies. The champions led by 9 points twenty seconds before the siren, but mistakes, including those of LeBron James, led to a single possession game. However, the grizzlies did not take advantage and so came the logical success for the guests, which was the fourth in a row for them.

On a poor shooting night for both teams Lakers were able to depend on James and Davis to close the game. Los Angeles trailed 79-77 with five minutes left when the two big men combined for a 9-2 run and an 86-81 lead. The final basket came on a dunk by Davis on an assist from James.

The Lakers now lead the Western Conference with six wins and two losses as the Los Angeles Clippers lost 116-113 to the San Antonio Spurs and are with five-and-two record.
